Mahboobeh Kalaee
In partnership with the CNC and NEF Animation (the international residency at the Fontevraud Abbey), CITIA is taking on this exchange residency by welcoming Mahboobeh Kalaee for 2 months of creation at Les Papeteries – Image Factory.
CITIA is providing her with the best possible conditions to be able to develop the narrative and visual world of her next animation short film, Real Life.
Real Life de Mahboobeh Kalaee
Iranian artist, who directed The Fourth Wall (2021) and By the Way (in this year's Annecy Official Selection), is coming to the capital of animation film after spending the first month at the Fontevraud Abbey residency. We hope that the time spent exploring and researching with the CITIA teams, Caribara Animation Annecy, which is providing her with a workspace, as well as the international artists at the Annecy Festival Residency will be stimulating and creative for the filmmaker.
Ismaël Joffroy Chandoutis, César award-winning director for his animated documentary in 2022, Maalbeek (Films Grand Huit), will be her mentor during this residency and he will assist her in her artistic approach.
