It is with great sadness that we received news of the passing of Pierre-Édouard Baratange on Saturday 4th February, who was the Annecy Festival’s technical advisor for 20 consecutive years.

PEB (as he was affectionately known), was an engineer at the CST (Commission supérieure technique de l'image et du son), one of the event’s partner institutions since the 2000s.

He supervised and validated the Festival’s film and video installations and assisted us in the digital transition as well as various other qualitative evolutions for the Festival’s theatres. His list of contacts commanded the utmost respect.

Pierre-Édouard excelled at his profession, in particular regarding sound because he had a genuine musician’s ear.

He loved the atmosphere at Annecy, which was one of his favourite events. In 2021, during the 60th anniversary ceremony and on the eve of his retirement, the Festival publicly presented him with an "Honorary Rabbit" in recognition of his long and outstanding contribution to the quality of the screenings.

The entire Annecy Festival team joins alongside his family and friends in honouring the memory of one of its most loyal companions.
