Annecy steps up its commitment to promote women in animation

After 7 intensive days celebrating and sharing our common passion for animation film in the Festival cinema theatres and at the Mifa, the 2024 Annecy Festival drew to a close on Saturday 15^th June with the announcement of all the award winners.

Annecy announces the creation of an exclusive residency for female animation feature film directors.

This year, Annecy is adorned with the colours of Mexican animation.

In an ever-changing European context, where global players are on the rise, strengthening the European film and audiovisual ecosystem will require stronger industry platforms to ensure the continued quality and competitiveness of our European culture and works.

Let’s take a look back on a memorable and emotionally-charged week at the Festival and the International Animation Film Market!

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival, which takes place from 8th to 14th June, has announced its competitive selections over the past few weeks: Short Films, Graduation Films, and followed by the TV and Commissioned Films the day before yesterday.
In all, a grand total of 182 works in competition have been revealed, coming from 54 countries and 45% directed by women.

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival is back on 21^st to 27^th June and the Mifa from 23^rd to 26^th June 2026, to celebrate the wealth and diversity of global animation in all its forms.

The Annecy Festival Residency will hold its 4^th edition from 5^th April to 28^th June 2024 and host 3 new artists in the Papeteries – Image Factory to work on the visual identity of their animation feature films.
