Annecy Festival receives the REEVE Eco-Committed Event Level 1 certification.
This is a significant step towards a more responsible and sustainable Festival.
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival and its International Animation Film Market (Mifa), organised by CITIA, have been committed to environmental and social responsibility for several years and have reached another new milestone: the 2025 edition has been awarded the REEVE Eco-Committed Event Certification – Level 1.
This accolade, awarded by the Réseau éco-événement (REEVE), is in recognition of the active efforts made by festivals and cultural events to reduce their impact and develop more virtuous practices. It is founded on 30 specific commitments that address today's environmental and societal issues.
A well-defined and ambitious approach
CITIA is mindful of its impact and constantly reviews how it designs, produces and runs its event. Its strategy is based on the "Sustainable Development Charter for Festivals" promoted by the Ministry of Culture, as well as a Carbon Footprint Assessment carried out in 2023.
Obtaining the REEVE – Level 1 Certification means that actions have been implemented in the following key areas:
- Respect for the local biodiversity and ecosystems
- Optimisation of paper and digital practices
- Sharing, upcycling and recycling
- Environmentally-friendly travel and promoting soft mobility
- Ethical food and purchasing
- Waste sorting and management
- Accessibility, inclusion and gender equality
- Measures to combat inappropriate behaviour
- Workplace wellbeing
- Team and public awareness
