Discover the Swiss Film Animation Group’s (GSFA) Transitions programme!

In celebration of Swiss animation’s 100th anniversary in 2021, the Annecy Festival has chosen the put Switzerland in the spotlight for its 46th edition! The association of animation film professionals, the Swiss Film Animation Group’s (GSFA), has concocted four short film programmes that take a look back on the history of Swiss animation.

The four programmes are for all audiences, young and old, and group together more than 40 films. They provide an overview on techniques, varied visual and narrative languages that have made their mark on Swiss animation since 1921. Esteemed animators such as Georges Schwizgebel, Claude Luyet and Claude Barras are presented alongside the young generation of pioneers such as Isabelle Favez, Marina Rosset, Maja Gehrig and Anja Kofmel, and young talents such as Marjolaine Perreten, Delia Hess, Frederic Siegel, and winner of the Cristal for a Short Film 2021 at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Samuel Patthey. The programmes provide the opportunity to invite a wider audience, Swiss or international, to discover a lesser known aspect of Swiss animation in a unique way.
