Launched in 2020, the Comics Mifa Pitches are now integrated into the Mifa Pitches on a permanent basis, designed to cross-over the arts and initiate possible adaptations between the comic strip and the screen. The stage is handed over to writers after a selection led by an expert committee and thanks to the collaboration of several international comic book festivals.
The connections between comics and animated film are not new, but the Annecy International Animation Film Market has decided to showcase writers and their works (comics, children’s books, manga, graphic novels, etc.) as Pitches, in order to enlighten animation producers of the possible adaptations.
For this second edition, the Comics Mifa Pitches are accompanied by key international partners in this sector:
The scheme is also in keeping with a regional approach by partnering with Lyon BD Festival and the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
Procedures
Each festival put forward 4 works recently spotted and free of rights. A selection committee of animation and comics professionals explore the potential and interest of the works submitted and choose a maximum of 5 works.
