Selection Committee

For the 2024 edition, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival has already received more than 2,600 films from a hundred countries.

The Annecy 2024 Official Selection is carried out by the Artistic Director, Marcel Jean, with the Festival’s Films & Programme Planning team, Laurent Million, Yves Nougarède and Sébastien Sperer as well as:

• Cécile Giraud
  Cécile is Project Manager for Nouvelle-Aquitaine Independent Cinemas, where she supports animation films, documentaries and films for young audiences. She is currently writing her first animation series.
• Marie-Pauline Mollaret
  Marie-Pauline has been Head of the Short Films Committee for Critics’ Week since 2023, after being a selector on this committee for six years. She is also Programmer for the PIAFF, the Paris International Animation Film Festival (experimental animation competition and youth audience selection) and is involved in the feature film preselections for the Festival du nouveau cinéma de Montréal (Festival of New Cinema). She is also a journalist and film critic writing for various film specialist magazines including L’Avant-scène cinéma, Bref and Blink Blank, as well as for the website Ecrannoir.fr as Editor-in-Chief. In addition, she regularly contributes to the monthly broadcast Bulles de rêves, on Radio Libertaire, which is all about animation film.
• Maud Ahmadnia
  Maud, MA in Film Studies from Paris Diderot University, has worked at a number of major festivals in areas dedicated to artistic protocol, film production and artistic coordination of international teams. It is with enthusiasm and a thirst for discovery that she is taking the plunge as a selector.
• Gala Frecon
  Gala has collaborated with several structures and festivals as events programmer and coordinator. At the Annecy Festival, she has been selector of both the VR Works alongside Yves Nougarède and the WTF programme with Sébastien Sperer for the last several years. She joined the Festivals Connexion team in 2023 as Head of Distribution of the VR works in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. She is also a lecturer at GOBELINS campus Annecy and gives lessons on the history of animation film.
• Isabelle Vanini
  Formerly Programmer at the Forum des images and Director of the Ciné-Bourse in Saint-Junien, Isabelle is now Executive Director of the Association française du cinéma d'animation. A member of the César’s Animation Committee and jury member for the Résidence internationale d'écriture pour le film d'animation (international writing residency for animation films) at Fontevraud, she also participates in the "Documentary and Animation" meetings organised by the NEF since their creation and she regularly contributes to the review Blink Blank. Lastly, Isabelle has been involved in the Annecy Festival’s feature film selection process for the last 5 years.
