The 2022 Residency is On!

The authors have arrived in Annecy for the start of the 2022 Annecy Festival Residency! Also, find out which mentors will be assisting them.

In November, we presented the projects that were chosen to be supported during the 2022 Annecy Festival Residency for the graphic development of animation feature films.

Ismaël Joffroy Chandoutis, for the project Deep Fake, Zsuzsanna Kreif and Balázs Turai, for the project Dino Doom on Desert Planet, and Emilio Ramos, for the project Hanta, have arrived in Annecy and start their residency inside the Papeteries – Image Factory.

Now, it’s time to present the mentors that will be assisting their creative approach.

For the scriptwriting aspects:

  • Anita Doron: scriptwriter and director, is assisting the project Hanta
  • Laurent Sarfati: writer, scriptwriter and writing director, is assisting the project Dino Doom on Desert Planet

A two-step mentoring was suggested to the artists: the first step working on the script remotely, and the second step on-site and focused on the projects’ graphic development. These mentorships are co-designed with the artists themselves, to identify the profiles best adapted to their graphic universes or their technical aspirations.

The first assistance gives the opportunity to question the film’s storyline beforehand, to make some adjustments and fine-tune it to ensure that the artistic work can start.

The second assistance aims to advise and push each artist in their creative process. This stimulation is necessary to explore and draw out maximum benefit from the time offered during the residency.

Consult the Annecy Festival Residency 2022 webpage to find out about the mentors, artists, and projects selected.

We wish them all an excellent Residency until 30th June 2022!
